Day 2 Myrtle Beach

Day two sleep was great heat was a blessing ! We cast of about 8 am the boat has been slower than normal we may need a prop cleaning . Thank goodness the 2nd mate ran aground today took the stress off me for my grounding. Each time i lean out of the dodger to take a look with the Bino's Stella leans out also so i am trying to see the next marker and i see the back of her head ! Headed to George Town tomorow .

Day one down

Started early needed to defrost the windows with a small heater so the captain could see. Hit the figure Eight bridge on time , was early at Wrightsville as i was at the Helm doing laps waiting on the bridge i did the unthinkable ran argound "lightly" waited about 2 mins and we floated off. The Captain was very understanding and didnt make me walk the plank.We have stopped for the night at SouthPort NC for fuel,water and rest and will cast off early for Myrtle Beach . Stella the guard dog is beat she was bird watching all day and didnt take a break . "Posting some photos later tonight or tomorow"

Captain said tonight we will be moving the P II over to the fuel dock tomorow and ready her for the last of loading for the trip.My bags are packed and repacked, Lap top,Phone,Camera and IPOD i think the only thing else i may pack is my Guitar,

Delay well worth it !

Today it has been snowing and cold and rain mixed, Makes me glad we are not sailing yet we are going to hope that Weds is going to be a much better day for cast off.

Weather holding off our sail date

Due to daytime temps in the low 30's and nights in the teens or low 20's the crew as a whole have pushed back the sail date back untill around Weds. Heading south is good but freezing on the way is not part of a good trip ! keep your fingers crossed and see if the weather holds and we can cast off the lines and sail south toward warmer water and weather !

Why oh Why are we not in Key west yet !

31 windy outside today they are calling for snow sunday night so much for that prayer wind to our back and high tides, we need to reword that one to read" May the water not freeze the wind not blow 30 knots and the temps be above 35" So we May be Sailing out of port headed to Key West with snow on the boat . I have my Big Boy panties on to endure the cold and crappy weather for the first 400 miles south !

Getting the "Service Boat " ready for action

Yesterday the Crew of the Providence II were loading still also Pumping up the Little Providence or the Little Pee Pee as its called !No holes and it floats once again another Item off the check list !

6 Days of prep time !

Awoke this morning and it was 30 outside windy and pretty much a crappy day ! Captain said we are blowing up the " service boat"  tomorow and trying the new motor on it. Oh joy thats more like strapping a outboard to an Innertube and pray for no leaks ! 1st mate is well on her way to having the boat ready to go i have all my stuff  in the office in a pile that seems to be growning with the weather being in question ! I am sure we will look like that kid on TV as we motor along, Looking more like Ticks than Human in form. Providing we make it through the " service boat" launch and return with out swimming i will post a Photo or two and keep my fingers crossed that its going to be warmer than 40 when we leave and not pouring rain.
Stella seems excited and ready but then again shes the Boat guard dog what the heck does she know about weather !

10 days and counting

Well weather is either cold as ever or raining ! Not sure what will be our fate as we start to leave but i told the captain we should leave the Dingy packed away pump it up only if we start sinking ! Sorta a Titanic replay ! Dingy we dont need no stinking Dingy ! Thinking when i am at the helm i will wear my sun glasses and have a red tipped cane handy so when boaters fly by ill tap it on the deck and shake it at them ! And everytime we dock ill fall on my knees and kiss the dock scream " Viva La Cuba" Then they can explain we are only in Georgia ! Maybe drag a empty life vest behind the boat with " Rob" on it when we dock ask if anyone has seen Rob ! Funny is skin deep Crazy goes all the way to the bone ! Stay tuned everyone no telling what lays ahead !

12 Days until cast off

Today went and with cold in mind me and the first mate bought some nice warm waterproof boots, The Captain bought some boat shoes ? I am thinking if it gets to bad we will wrap Capt John in shrink wrap and duct tape his hands to the wheel . pretty sure the two others are going be warm and toasty in our foul weather boots and gear :)

Counting down to warm weather

Well the captain fired up the heat today and the 1st mate is stocking the boat i am packing my stuff ! Where oh where is the warm weather ? pumping up the " service boat" trying the new engine and checking the sea bag, Washing my life vest it looks like it may have went down with the Titanic i don't want be made to wear the " can't swim orange ring of death" 1st Mate said she had a special kids jacket for me if i didn't bring my own !

Trip blog

Still reviewing the list of stuff i want to take on the trip to Key West i keep changing the size of my bag i want enough but not to much. Also things i might need i only hope the weather will calm down and give us a window to slip out of Hampstead and head down south with out freezing our butt's off .
